I got this in an email and decided that the best place to share this, rather than email was here with all my friends. Please copy and paste it to your blogs and walls as well.
**********************************
Governors of 35 states have already filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.

An idea whose time has come!

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest was to exempt themselves from the Health care Reform … in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law.

I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. A Constitutional Convention – this is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come. And, with the advent of modern communication, the process can be moved along with incredible speed. There is talk out there that the “government” doesn’t care what the people think. That is irrelevant. It is incumbent on the population to address elected officials to the wrongs afflicted against the populace…you and me. Think about this… The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971…before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land…all because of public pressure.

I’m asking each addressee to forward this Email to a minimum of twenty people on their Address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: “Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States “

<fb:like layout="button_count" show_faces="false" action="recommend" font="arial" colorscheme="light" href="http://www.dawnmccarroll.com/2010/08/constitutional-convention/" width="250"></fb:like>

Maybe you know how it is… I live in a small town, well it’s big enough you don’t everyone anymore. There seems to be some contrast to the way people behave in a town like this…

Today I went to the post office and first thing I see is my neighbor helping a man who’s truck tire had been stabbed with a knife. While I was chatting with him a woman stopped and offered her assistance in the form of a ride. My neighbor told her they had the situation covered, but thanked her sweetly for her offer. When told what had happened to the tire, she offered her prayers for the man. I thanked her and asked her if any prayers were needed by her or her family. I ended up praying for her and her estranged husband right there in the post office parking lot.

Then I went to the gas station and after I got gas, I went in to get a drink. When I was about to open the refrigerator door to get my selection, this woman started screeching at her son to hurry up. This little darling, about eight years old, pushed his way in front of me and snatched open the door and grabbed a drink. Again I reached for the door to get my drink and she started yelling at him not to forget his brother. This time I had the door open so he did not have to open the door before he pushed in front of me to get his brother a drink. All this while his loving example of how to behave in public mother looked on. I wonder what she will think when he is big enough to push her aside because he is in a hurry.

<fb:like layout="button_count" show_faces="false" action="recommend" font="arial" colorscheme="light" href="http://www.dawnmccarroll.com/2010/08/not-so-small-town-observations/" width="250"></fb:like>

I don’t know when I became enamored of dancing. I must have been really small because I can remember dancing before I knew how to read. I would dance with all my parents friends when we went to parties. There seems to have been a lot of dancing in those days. I started ballet lessons real early too. I was a goofy looking little princess, but I felt pretty and graceful when I danced. When my family lived in Reno, I had an instructor named Daphne. She was very old and could not dance anymore herself. She was very strict and would swat you with her cane if you did not do to suit her. But we all adored her. She helped us transform from ugly ducklings to graceful swans.

Disco Dawn

My family moved back to Texas during my first year of high school. It was a strange transformation for me. We lived in the country and there were no dance schools, but I did not let that stop me. I started listening to contemporary rock and roll around that time and started dancing to that. I was painfully shy in school and still kind of goofy looking during my early teens. All skin and bones and braces. But when I danced I felt transformed… I was beautiful and graceful and well… sexy. I loved being able to express myself with my body and I loved the way people’s expressions changed after they saw me dance. When I got a little older, during the time of disco and line dancing, I was the maverick on the dance floor and I loved it when I was able to clear the floor and put on a performance. I was very self absorbed with no thought whatsoever that this time would quickly pass me by.

Unlike playing an instrument at which you become better with experience and age, dancing is a very short lived talent. By the time I was 28 and had 1 child, I was not able to move as I had before. At the time it did not matter because my life was all about the son I adored so much. At 30 I had my second son and was again absorbed into my children’s lives and the things I had to accomplish for them. I do not regret any of that and I hardly noticed the time flying by. By the time I was 40 I had no desire to dance much. I miss being able to move like that, but I no longer wanted that kind of attention.

Lately I have started dreaming of dancing. My flesh is weak with age and ill treatment, but in my dreams I am light and I dance as if no time has passed at all. The really unique thing about these dreams is that I do things that I would never have been able to do even when I was young. I float and never seem to land. I jump and am lifted up far beyond my waking life can ever achieve. I am graced with the ability to express all that I feel before my God… in my dreams. I am dreaming the dance I want to give to God when I come before His throne.

<fb:like layout="button_count" show_faces="false" action="recommend" font="arial" colorscheme="light" href="http://www.dawnmccarroll.com/2010/08/dreaming-the-dance/" width="250"></fb:like>
